Physical address for the "Add-to-Cart Troll" is 5051 Peachtree Corners Circle, Suite 200--Do I have that right? Since 2004 this "Now what do I call it?" point has been in my frames, it's out of either Christian or Muhlenberg County, Kentucky--a "local flint" is how I classified it--a nodular flint with a considerable iron content based on that 'center of nodule' inclusion. The other classification concerns 'point type'--In the Early-to-Middle Archaic shifts there are several similar types: Merkles, Damron, Ohio Double Notch, probably a few I've missed. The wide basal 'tabs' might fall into Leighton forms, but the convex base wouldn't, and that's why I think you end up returning to the Damron point type. One thing that moves you into the Mid Archaic is that there is no basal edge grinding. The middle Archaic wasn't a time for edge grinding to be used on more than a few point types (Table Rocks, as an example). The flaking, too, is more percussion work although the upper blade edges are showing secondary chipping (pressure chipping). The point measures 2&3/16" by 1&1/4", only 5/16" max thickness. It's patinated, it's guaranteed real, period. Shipping is $7.00, checks, cash, or M.O>s, but I do not use paypal-type payment services--Roy A.
