A fine grade of Indiana Hornstone on this VERY steeply bevel-sharpened Decatur--the base shows elements of both Hardin points and Lost Lake (steep bevels and extremely heavy basal edge grinding) and barbs that are parallel to the basal corners, not 45o down-cast barbs. The base (stem) is obviously not a "Fractured Base" style of Decatur. Note the pressure chipping, VERY high end workmanship, is clearly Early Archaic, 7500BP knapping. We can debate the 'classification' to slot the Spencer County, Indiana, point in several different point types--it comes down to "What's your view?" (I see Decatur), but patination of the glossy hornstone is unmistakable--lifetime (mine) guaranteed authentic. Length is 1&13/16", and may have reached 1&7/8" if not for a tiny flat spot on the very tip. Width is 1&3/16", with 5/16" thickness. The thickness is very proportional, and indicates (as does the beveling) that the blade was considerably longer as first made. Nice point, real. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal or other payment services--Roy A.
