A find from along the Wabash River, Gibson County, Indiana. I want to label the LeCroy as a Muldrough Chert, but also realize that gravel beds along the river could have supplied the Early Archaic hunter with a 'look-alike' chert from some totally different chert deposit (courtesy of the glaciers)--Northwest Indiana's Kenneth Chert as an example. That info, the color being what it is, you have some reference points to decide what you'd want to label the chert. Length is 1" by 13/16", and 1/4" max thickness. There is some basal grinding (or use-dulling)--sometimes it's hard to say which. Seeing that extruded tip, though, I'd suspect long use for the small dart projectile--that translates to some 'whiggle and wear' on the edges of the base. Every detail is guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $7.00 (thank the USPS, this is at their minimum charge).I welcome checks or M.O>s, but do not use payment services like paypal--Roy A.
