A friend bought this Graham Cave at some farm auction in southern Illinois, may have been a half-dozen years back--I put it away as a "Maybe some day I'll be ready to sell it"--hey, I collect as much as I can, budget being what it is. Old story, you get the picture, you sell some things in order to buy other pieces for your collection. So, that being said, length is 1&13/16" by slightly over 1&1/8"--5/16" max thickness, and that should indicate the blade was once somewhat longer--superb flaking to 'finish-out' the edges and base ( moderately well ground, so the piece is definitely Early Archaic Culture). Tip, basal corners and barbs are all intact, NOTHING to describe as 'damage'. The flint is one I haven't identified--in terms of color, high silicate nature (and patina) it's very similar to Indiana Derby Flint (chalcedony), but that flint wouldn't have made it as far west as southern Illinois, too localized a deposit, so, unless Dave W. got the provenance wrong the Graham Cave has to be made of some high-end flint besides Derby--could be a Kentucky Chalcedony, I've seen similar pieces found in the western Ky area, but 'naming' the flint--that I can't--what I can do is guarantee the piece is real in every detail. Shipping is $6.00, and checks or M.O>s are welcomed. Sorry, no paypal, I do not use it--Roy A.
