Someone got to put a projectile through the bear, but (before the tooth was pulled) who got to check for 'vital signs?" The Black bear tooth wasn't drilled, but very likely it was part of a strand of teeth--the canine teeth. A friend came by the piece at an auction for artifacts in Kentucky--he never did provide me the county, though. The patina is very, very good, though, authenticity is lifetime guaranteed--the old cracks and chips in the bear's enamel, the 'weathered yellow" root (2&1/2" in length). Most old bone has to have a 'fixer', a water and glue binder to prevent the bone from drying out--I see enough gloss on this piece to indicate that happened some decade in the past. Neat piece. Shipping is $6.00, checks or M.O>s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
