Standard rule is: if it's beveled, it's a Lost Lake, not a Kirk Cornernotch. Well, what about when the barbs are at 90 degrees to the stem, not down-turned--and the stem is very wide in relation to the width of the blade? Some collectors use the "Archaic Bevel" classification--seems more accurate than calling this hornstone point a Lost Lake. Length is 2", width is slightly over 1&3/8", and thickness is nearly 5/16"--good balance, great patina, and excellent basal grinding. The tip and the barbs each show a very tint chip due to ancient (Early Archaic) use. The piece comes from a Jackson & Union County, Illinois, gathered collection. Shipping is $6.00, and payment welcomed by check, cash, or M.O., but please note I do not use paypal--Roy A.
