Five points from southwest Illinois--Jackson and Union County area--ALL real. Two are made from heat treated Burlington chert--iron oxides really show red when Burlington is heat treated to make it more "chip-able". The two smallest show basal grinding, Early Archaic in origin 7500 BP). The two largest points, 1&1/2" and 1&5/8" respectively are a white (non heat treated) Burlington, and a more glossy Avon Chert--both these points in the Middle-to-Late Archaic timeperiods. Every point gets a 'name' , so if you're trying to classify the pieces a little flipping through a copy of Overstreet's guide should provide the names--Email me if I can be of help.
