From a Mattoon, Illinois, collection, this 'almost' 2" Dovetail is made of a red looking Payson Flint--a lot of fossils in the material, just speckled with all the fossils. Width is 13/16", and the blade is only 1/4" thick nearer the base. A very small tip chip kept the Dove from the 2" mark. The split lobe bas shows grinding on either lobe edge--same grinding on the outsides of the notches. The finder, Bill Pesch, cataloged "18W" on one face--without his catalog 'key', though, the site info is lost--not unusual with estate sales--my own daughters would have no idea where most of my personal finds were picked up, say like the middle Clovis of my store picture that's now under Interstate 69, lol.
