A fine, fine piece of Mid-to-Late Archaic Culture workmanship--typed as a Mulberry Creek--and I realize that's a point style more from Kentucky, not Illinois--the form fits, the slightly contracting stem with a large, thick blade. For whatever reason Overstreet doesn't include the point style in Illinois, but this can't be the only one found there--ex Bill Pesch collection, ex Welton, listed (inked-on provenance) as Macon County, Illinois--Kaolin Flint, 4&1/16" by 1&3/8", slightly over 7/16" max thickness--A BIG BLADE--the base shows strong grinding, then the grinding becomes lighter as it moves around the stem, out to the pints of the barbs (and slightly UP from the barbs. A blade this size must have required extra sinew to hold to a handle as it isn't often you see the grinding come up over the outer sides of the barbs (shoulders, if you will).. A quality piece, lifetime guaranteed authentic in every detail. Shipping is $6.00 with checks or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
