A Warrick County, S.W. Indiana, find made of the Holland Flint out of neighboring Spencer County (Indiana)--inclusions of limestone 'cherty grade' material as some "Holland" shows--like many flints there are super grades, there are cherty grades, it just depended on the minerals percolating down into pockets of the coral reefs from the three hundred million year old "Inland Sea". Many--if not most--Midwest flint deposits are the result of those former coral reefs, flint color and fossils depended on what settled in those pockets in a reef (think of caves, stalagmites, same deal--even if that's simplifying the process some). This Early Archaic point is size-reduced to slightly over 1&1/2" by 1&5/16"--a quarter inch max thickness. Basal grinding and bevel sharpening are both light enough that I'd call the piece a Pinetree--possibly even Charleston Points (sort of a cross between a Pinetree and a Lost Lake).
