The Montgomery County, Illinois, collector worked what seems like (from looking at his finds) likely only a couple sites--and one, a Late Hopewell Site produced a scattering of whole and broken Gibson Points--this hornstone point, 2&1/8" by 1" is as symmetrical, as intact on each of the five 'cardinal points' as I expect you'll find. Like some other Late Hopewell (Lowe and Steuben types) there is some basal edge grinding--the Hopewell weren't 'great users' of basal grinding, but as their culture phased into very early Mississippian you do see grinding used as a finish-out technique. Deep in the crevices of this Illinois point you'll find the patination (mineralization) you expect on authentic points--it's real. Shipping is $8.00 with checks or money orders the ways I welcome payments. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
