What had to be a hard-to-work material--Sugar Quartz--to fashion and bevel sharpen an Early Archaic Dovetail point. With all the flints a knapper from that era had to work with they chose this banded piece of sugar quartz--length is 2&3/8" by 1&1/4" with a 3/8" max center thickness. The basal edge has some very light grinding, but it (grinding) is present--they made a slight center cleft, too. It looks like a small stack near the basal edge was thinned by a channel flake (pictures should show it). Hold the point with the tip toward you and the dell developed bevel shows the knappers' skill. Great patina, 100% guaranteed authentic Sangamon county, Illinois, Dovetail. Shipping is $7.00, checks or M.O.s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payment services--Roy A.
