Shipping included on this large Early Archaic Kirk Culture Cornernotch--being Kirk, there is hardly any basal edge grinding...maybe the only way you could distinguish it from a 'barely used' Lost Lake (no bevel sharpening). The piece, Hornstone, is 2&15/16" by almost 1&5/8"--that anciently snapped barb makes it more narrow than the width the knapper first made--and that was close to 2" wide. Big blade, definitely. You can see the shoulder is patinated, but you do see that the flint's color surrounding the break is more brown than the light grey in the break area. That tells me the damage came later than the piece was lost--sometime in the intervening 7500 years, between being lost and being found ten years ago, I'm guessing a deer stepped on the piece--just 'tumbling' in a creek wouldn't break the shoulder that was, it took some 'crush pressure'. Deer use creeks like an interstate highway, I've seen rockbars so churned-up from hooves you wonder how ANY artifact survived.
