Most generally I'll start an item description with the where-found, but when there is an unusual feature, maybe that's the place to start--THICKNESS is 9/16" (that's not a typo)--I've had this Adena in my hands quite a number of times now, and still can't provide a good answer why it was made so thick--almost like the knapper took a cache blade and forced a stem. The fact that the point/ knife was lost there on the Perry County (or Spencer Co.), Indiana, camp debris, washed-out by spring floods, well it may have proven to be a one-time-use, the knife abandoned because they couldn't thin the blade without considerable narrowing--the only way to thin a blade, flint knappers tell me. Not being a knapper, I rely on the info I get from people who specialize in studying the techniques of ancient peoples. At least two of the major authenticators in the country are also students of knapping--knowledge they put to use when authenticating. Okay--length is almost 2&15/16" by a wide 1&11/16"--interesting Adena, 100% real. Shipping is $8.00, checks, cash, or M.O.s. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
