In an old candy box of artifacts being offered in an estate sale, only the base was showing...with an Early Ovoid, let's face it, there aren't too many points with a base like that--sure, they can be the small base type, and those are often mistaken for Turkey Tails, but these Paleo Transitionals are generally huge blades, 7" or more in length. This one likely was as well, but sharpening, tip-rounding and the length is just under 2&3/4" by 1&3/8". Maybe they're "out there", but I've never come across one of these 'transitionals' with a rounded tip--obviously it--as a tool--still had value to the many thousand year BP hunter. I'll classify the piece as Hornstone, but of a type where you're trying to find corelates--similar flints. That "vug' in the center, the crystal inclusion should give some indication of what the original length might have been--close to 6", just at a reasonable guess. Neat piece.
Sorry for the slowness of Emails and posting of late--rent house came empty, and my priority has been getting that "retirement income" stream going again. Best to all--Roy Autry
