From a collection in Spencer County, Indiana, points etc...gathered along the Ohio River, this Mid Archaic is made of Hornstone,3&7/16" by 1&3/8", with the hafting area 7/16" thick (the blade thins considerably once you get north of the hafting, where thickness/ strength was more important. I've left the 'smear' of silicon/ felt so you can see how the finder displayed the piece--easily removed, but sometimes, seeing how a piece was displayed, it adds to the provenance. The best feature on this blade? Easy--a finely crafted (knapped) tip, some really, really good pressure flaking: fully intact. The stem was fashioned to get as much blade length as possible--that meant they had to force the stem around a small inclusion in the flint--a fossil, it looks like, and with the stem edges ground to help in hafting the knife. Guaranteed authentic in every detail. Shipping is $6.00 due to the latest USPS increase. I welcome checks, cash, or M.O.s but please note I do not use paypal--Roy A.
