Something about the piece caught my interest--the fluted base, mostly, only a few very early cultures did that sort of basal treatment, Clovis and Dalton being tops among them. The piece comes from the Union County, Illinois, area--Burlington Chert, 3&1/8" by 1&9/16"--a ridiculous thickness of 9/16" because the knife was made off a large, thick Burlington flake. Was the piece functional, or was it a "Training Tool"? That's one for discussion--personally I think some VERY early knapper was teaching a young knapper "Here's how we make a base", he used a flint fragment and watched how the young 'student' worked it. The finished knife shows wear on the blade edges, so YES, it was a functional knife/ perforator--it worked...even if "pretty" wasn't the name of the game. The patina is great, the piece guaranteed real. Shipping is $8.00, checks, cash, or money orders welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
