A pretty good sized preform for a Snyders Hopewell Point that ended up in an Illinois collection, but I'd 'bet the farm' the piece is either from Indiana or Kentucky due to the type of Hornstone used (the Illinois form of Hornstone, Cobden Flint looks considerably different, and definitely patinates in a different color shade...simplest way of saying it is "He bought the piece". That doesn't change the authenticity, it's still 100% guaranteed real, but it does leave a gap in the provenance--I try to pass on what I know about any artifact, but if there isn't much past history I'll try to convey that too. Here, the North Blade measures 3&5/8" by 2&1/2"--the 11/16" thickness was the 'fault' of that stack (fossil inclusion) in the center and the 'crater' that popped-out along a fracture plane--one side works (displays) fantastically, the reverse is a "well, damn"--I can live with the flaws in my collection, and if you can too, the shipping is $9.00 and checks or M.O.s are how I welcome payments. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
