The Lost Lake is out of Spencer County, S.W. Indiana, but made of a "shiny" type Hornstone I've rarely seen--the patina is there, the knapping work that's unique to the Early Archaic Period, the basal grinding (and basal center-notch)--everything, every detail, it's authentic. For whatever reason--and I'm supposing it was to keep as long as possible the cutting edges--the ancient hunter rounded, blunted the leading edge instead of shortening the blade, making a 'reduced size' knife. You don't 'second guess' people working to feed their families some 7500BP, they knew what they needed to survive--blunting made sense to them...makes sense to me, too. Length is 2&1/16", slightly over 1&1/2" wide, and 3/8" max thickness (at the tip) so you know the blade started considerably longer. Barbs are INTACT--too often one or both are long since gone. Note the fine blade edge bevels--nice workmanship. Shipping is $8.00, and you can send either a check or a money order, but please note my store does not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
