You look at the style of this Ohio River-found Hopewell, you want to classify it as "something earlier"...like an Early Archaic Culture point type. The lack of basal edge grinding is a dead give-away, the piece is Woodland Culture, not Lost Lake (or Kirk Cornernotch). The family lived in the Spencer--Perry County, Indiana, area, a grandfather (or great-grandfather) must have been a river's edge hunter. I've spent countless hours scouring beach sites there, too, the style (workmanship and patina) matches pieces I've found--easy to say this Hopewell is guaranteed authentic in every detail. Length is very slightly over 2&3/8", the excellent base up to what was a slight fire pop out on the tip--slight ancient salvage on that tip, they made it sharp even if slightly rounded; barbs and basal corners are in great shape. Just a decent Hopewell in every regard. Shipping is $8.00 with payment that can be made br check or M.O>--sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
