A Gibson County, Indiana, find according to the grandson of the finder--as the grandson was near retirement age, who knows how many decades it's been since this Dovetail was found? The flint is VERY mineralized, iron stained, and (while not a perfect point) still pretty collectible. Length is a well sharpened (reduced in size from the length at which it was first made) 1&11/16"---the 1&1/16' width and the 5/16" thickness testify to a 'double that size' original length--the heavy bevels are also telling the same story-LOTS of sharpen-and-use cycles. Basal grinding is excellent. The tip shows the last 'salvage' of the work blade (as a hafted knife)--that repair was done on a darker band (inclusion) in the hornstone--guaranteed ancient even if the the color shows darker than the surrounding surface chips. One barb end shows an ancient ding--again, the knife had a lot of use before it was lost. Shipping is $8.00 with checks, cash, or M.O.s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payments--Roy A.
