A granite Woodland Era Celt from Vanderburgh or Posey County, S.W. Indiana--FIELD found--as the plow creases demonstrate, but just to find a 4&7/16" by 2&5/16", 1&7/16" Celt in plowed fields anymore is an accomplishment. To its credit, if you rub the bit it's some impressive bit-edge polish. How many hours it took to give the front inch (plus) that strong of a polish must have required some effort...not a ten minute job, definitely. Note on the one face there is a built-in 'slot' for a celt head tightening wedge--a wood or bone wedge could be inserted to hold the chopping head tighter--as needed---read that 'as the sinew stretched'. The two thousand year past toolmaker planned ahead, give him credit. Due to weight priority mail shipping, $11.00, and payment is limited to checks (cash) or M.O.s--I do not use paypal--Roy A.
