A creek-found Sonora Flint knife (or preform)--both sides of the base show deliberate ancient thinning that's about as close to being 'flutes' as you'll get. I hesitate to call the piece a Paleo Knife, but it's possible it is--something about the very high-end chipping nearer the tip that strikes me as Early Archaic workmanship, and not Paleo. Too, the shape is more like a Cobbs Knife from the E. Archaic period. Length is 2&1/2" by 1&1/4", and 5/16" is the max thickness. There was a slight 'stack' on one basal corner, and that resulted in a 1/4" flat spot on the corner itself--the knapper left that spot so he wouldn't risk breaking the knife...can't blame him, well made knife, 100% authenticity. The piece comes from the Meade or Breckinridge County, KY, area. Shipping is USPS minimum--$7.00, and checks, cash, or M.O.s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payment services--Roy A.
