These five darts, each one Early Archaic Culture--one being Dalton related, come from a local estate, but not a single one of them being Indiana Hornstone, I expect they were found on one side (or other) of the Wabash River--are they Gibson County, Indiana, finds, or White County, Illinois, pieces--could be either (or a mix). When you see river cobble cherts, well, you look for the nearest river, and the gravels (used/ knapped) that predominate points found along that river. The triangular "Dalton related" Crescent Quarry Burlington Chert variety measures 1&1/16", basally ground, and with--due to the short blade--a bit of lateral edge grinding. The other four cornernotch types show some degree, some more, some less, basal grinding. The longest C.N., a Kirk Culture-related piece is 1&9/16", a 'true' glacial Jasper. The mottled color C.N. (Palmer Point) is like a Muldrough Chert, it shows the highest degree of basal grinding--and a rounded tip used for leatherwork--not broken, simply made much like a Hafted Scraper. (but not as worked-down). Each piece is real, each shows the patina it SHOULD have. Questions welcomed. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O. s are how I welcome payments. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payment services--Roy A.
