Our of the Madisonville, Kentucky, area, a fossil chert cornernotch. I lean more toward calling the point a Pinetree (than a Kirk) as the basal edge is moderately ground...and those beveled blade edges. Those listed traits are 'Pinetree", not Kirk, even if the shape suggests Kirk Cornernotch. Length is 2&1/4" with a wide body at 1&7/16". The 'grainy' nature of this particular fossil chert made for 'stacks' in the chert--thickness is between 5/16" and 3/8" due to stacks. One thing to mention with the chert is that it's a pretty high silicate material--your hands will tell you on first holding--"hard flint"...must have been tough for the Early Archiac knapper to work, but you can see by the fine pressure flaking of the edges that a skilled hunter made the piece. Patina is creek mineral, 100% real. Shipping is $8.00, USPS minimum these days, and I take payment only by check, cash, or M.O.--I do not use paypal--Roy A.
