79838--Illinois larger size Uniface Paleo Knife
Made of Kaolin Chert, 3&9/16" by 1&15/16", right at 1/2" max thickness, and so SLICK from years of hand-handling the big knife is actually slippery. The patina is much like a creek find, but the Jersey County, Illinois, collection didn't include too much info about individual pieces--not unusual when it's an estate, so you judge the collection contents on patina above all--this Uniface knife, very likely Paleo Culture with that shape (and the Uniface side)--added to the outre pas flaking technique, everything reads Clovis (or Late Paleo). Note the small indentation near the tip, notched so an index fingertip can increase downward cutting pressure. Nice Uniface, 100% guaranteed authentic.
