A Spencer County, Indiana, creek-found Adena point2&13/16" by 1&5/16". The blade reaches 3/8" thickness, a sure sign the 'as first made' size was even larger. The stem is getting VERY close to a Turkey Tail style, to the point (a hafted knife) might well BE a Turkey Tail--or a very early, early Adena. The stem edges are heavily ground--the ancient knapper made sure it wouldn't cut the sinew used to secure the piece to its handle. The chert--there is so much patina I'm honestly not certain--very likely a chert bed found local to Spencer County, likely doesn't even have a 'chert type' name (not at all unusual as there are so many chert beds to be found, but having a very limited distribution range, maybe no more than a few miles). Real, period. Shipping is $6.00 checks, cash, or M.O.s, but please note I do not use paypal--Roy A.
