This unusual Limonite Boatstone is crude but effective, It was found in Spencer Co., Indiana. Boatstones were thought to have been used as weights on atl atl throwing sticks. Limonite is one of the three main iron ores along with hematite and magnetite and is often characterized by sheet exfoliation as can be seen on the larger end of this of this artifact..
