A S.W. Indiana--Posey County find, this Hornstone Big Sandy shows modest basal grinding--you feel the edge grinding more on the corners of the side notch than in the base-center where a small 'notch' was made to fit the dart head to a handle--it's easier to notch the flint than to saw & grind the dart shaft, it seems. Long and narrow, the dart measures 2&1/16" by 13/16"--thin at only 1/4" max thickness. Note the iron oxide on the basal corner--the starting piece of flint had iron in it, the iron stained a quartz inclusion with those iron particles. Good patina, lifetime guaranteed authentic.
