The basal edge is ground, so that identifies the point as being Early Archaic, not one of the Mid Archaic variants that are also side notched. Early Archaic means basal grinding, other than some out-liars, those Kirk points that only 'occasionally' ground their bases. This point is a Vanderburgh County, S.W. Indiana, find, a two-toned hornstone,2&1/16" by 7/8"--5/16" max thickness. Note a slight notch on one corner of the side-notching--deliberate, but what exactly was it for? Too, was this a dart point, or a small knife--a collector can speculate, but about the only to decide would be to examine other features: the tip is a burin, sharp--to me that would indicate something more of use for a knife, not a projectile. Opinion, that's the best I can offer, but every detail is 100% real, that's NOT in doubt. Shipping is $6.00, checks, cash, or M.O.s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
