An excellant archaic jade/hardstone carving. Very large with nicely exacuted carving. A handle that swings side to side and bird heads on the top sides. A tao-ti face on each side and hawk type feet with talons reminicent of a hawk. Scales along the front and back suggesting a dragon too. About 9-5/8"tall you rfeally have to see this to appreciate it. This does dismantle with the dragon knobs coming off and letting the handle come free. The lid and inner part of the large bottom showing heavy age. There is heavy patination with patination under the hinge fractures. I believe tis to be a type of jade. I have found no flaws to mentionother than imperfections in the stone. No breaks chips or dings.
