Out of Massac County in the 'toe' of Illinois, Ohio River area--three deliberate notches on the basal edge, almost a serration, but was that to keep the knife point steady in it's handle, or did the notching accomplish some other purpose. If there was basal edge grinding to start with it was cut away with the notches--you can feel grinding on the sides of the stem. The Early Archaic Hardin shows excellent pressure knapping, measures 2&5/16" by 1&1/4"--5/16" max thickness. Made of a good quality local flint, good gloss and patina. Real, period. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s welcomed, but please note I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
