Since 2012 this Early Archaic point has been a resident of one case or another in my personal collection (I collect Hardins), but it's always been a "looks like a Dovetail" classification. There is so much Early archaic use that only one side of the base still has grinding, and at least in my opinion it's the lighter, Hardin grinding, not the heavy basal edge polish Dovetail makers favored. Out of S.W. Indiana's Warrick County, made of a super-patinated Hornstone, slightly over 3&1/4" by 1&3/16", a 5/16" medial ridge (very proportional). The tip shows an ancient, mostly patinated chip--you can see how dark the hornstone was before some 7500 years of patination. The chip is likely a farming related ding, and the collection, having been found back in the 1940's-to-1950s, some fading of the dark grey has taken place (re-patination)...but it might take another thousand years to finish up, though.. If there isn't enough patina here to convince you the piece is real--golly, we live in different worlds. Shipping is $8.00, payment welcomed by check, cash, or M.O.s. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
