Sometimes the flint used is a more 'interesting feature' than the point--not a bad Mid Archaic Culture Brunswick Point, but that deep blue flint sure makes a Mid Archaic dart stand out. The piece was found in Posey County, Indiana, more than a few decades back, it measures an excellent (for the point type) 2&11/16" by 7/8"--these were Atl Atl dart point types are not overly long as a rule, so the length here is slightly longer than the usual type. There is some ancient wear from the 6500 BP hunter, and a corner of the base shows what I'd call a freeze-thaw flake that exfoliated. Water vapor under surface flakes (with a slight fracture plane), it's easy for freezing to "lift" a flake that wasn't firmly attached. As you'd expect from the Mid Archaic timeperiod, there was no basal edge grinding to start with--grinding wasn't a Mid Archaic technique for the most part, anyway. The piece is absolutely guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $8.00, checks, cash, and money orders welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
