Some of these LeCroy-slash-MacCorkle points, the basal edge grinding seems to be limited to the corners--getting "into" the center of the auriculate base, that was harder to do, so the grinding can be light. Not here--the Early Archaic hunter made an effort to equalize the basal grinding...or maybe he had just the perfect piece of sandstone/ granite as his "edge grinder". The Vanderburgh County, Indiana, point was anciently sharpened to 1&7/16", one shoulder simply lost do the repeated blade edge sharpening, but still a workable blade edge. As are many of these very early point types each face was almost fluted (to thin the piece for hafting) and the blade edges were serrated by use of the parallel flaking that 'stair-steps' to the tip: well made, patinated, real in every detail. Shipping is USPS minimum rate (for today, anyway)--$8.00, checks, cash, or money orders. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
