ex Dr. Homer Skaggs 1990 estate auction, my personal collection since then, from a frame of the doctor's points labeled as Posey County, Indiana. In conversation with fellow collectors I learned this was a site very near the Ohio River--Wabash River confluence. The point is made of Indiana Hornstone, only 1&3/4" by 1", with a 3/8" thick medial ridge. The very symmetrical flaking doesn't indicate the blade was much (if any) longer--the tip area looks "finished" as-is. If you notice those long flake scars along the central ridge extend from the edge to--and past--that medial ridge. Had the blade been shortened in usage it's seem shorter flake scars would rule. Basal and lateral grinding are excellent--put that in caps, the grinding is really, really good, and each face shows a strong basal thinning flake removed. At a later stage the blade edges would have shown the serration of a much sharpened Greenbrier. Every detail is guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $9.00 with checks or M.O.s how I welcome payments.
