The form, the outline and the 'setup for a flute' are already in place--likely a preform carried in a Paleo hunters' "kit" to finish out as needed. A tan chert, 3&5/16" by 1&15/16", some 7/16" max thickness (thinning and narrowing were the 'next steps'). The piece is from around Evansville, Indiana, it's fully patinated, authentic.
