Sort of an orange/ rust colored granite Celt with green bandings, the small (1&15/16" by 1&3/8" by 3/4") thick Celt was found along the lower Wabash River--I'd assume the Indiana side of the stream, but the family could have just as easily boated to the Illinois side to hunt their favorite sites. The Woodland piece, likely Hopewell based on the percentage of Hopewell artifacts in their collection, has a grainy surface--well shaped to form, but definitely, VERY definitely not polished. Someone once told me that soil acidity can almost 'etch' granite--if so, that was an almost corrosive soil. The bit is well formed, but not a 'crisp' edge--maybe that was from heavy use, whatever a smaller size Celt was needed for. Neat, authentic piece. Shipping is $7.00, checks or M.O.s are welcomed, but paypal-type payments are not used on my store--Roy A.
