Your first look should probably bring on a "That's a wide point (for the length) " comment--that was my reaction--length is not quite to 2&7/8", but the width is a full 1&7/8". Was the Kirk's blade a lot longer, understanding that the base would have added some half inch to the current length--not sure. Note the micro chipping of the blade edges--even accounting for the built-in shaft scraping edge; tiny, tiny flakes; serrated, in effect due to those small cutting flakes. The piece is out of the Dubois County, Indiana, area, an old farm collection (small). Now--the stem--my caliper reads a 5/16" thick stem--that's a very thick stem to snap, so was there EVER a stem, or are we seeing the outer edge of the bifacial preform the Kirk knapper began with, didn't have enough flint to fashion a stem? Some would say the piece s a "broken point", but personally I think there was (likely) not a stem there to begin with. Either way, every detail is guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $8.00 with checks, cash, or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payment services--Roy A.
