Out of the Lexington, Kentucky, area, Ft. Payne Flint--or Muldrough, VERY mottled color. The tip (nicked from use) would have made the full length 3&1/8" (appx.)--a great Lost Lake for restoration. Basal grinding is extra heavy, excellent blade edge serration. The knife must not have had many edge-sharpenings as the degree of bevel is still slight. Based on the patination, the style of knapping there was never a second barb--you can trace the rounded flake that forms that lower blade edge and see no evidence it's a break--the rounded flake is the shape of the Cobbs Knife preform this Early Archaic knapper used--note some extra fine pressure-made knapping scars at the rounded end of where you'd expect a barb--the knapper worked with the flint he had (the shape). Dirt still in place, the knife has never been washed. Shipping is $8.00 (USPS minimum), checks, cash, or M.O>s are the only ways I take payment--Roy A.
