You sort through a whole lot of flint sometimes, a small collection comes your way--not every piece is going to go on this store--fakes, NO--rechippped points--not unless they're dirt cheap and the condition is stated up front. Here are three of those: two Adenas (or is the one a Turkey Tail?) and what I assume is a Hopewell variant--flaking looks to 'clunky' for a Hardin imho. The three come from an old Warrick-Spencer County, Indiana, collection gathered decades back, stored in a closet. The smaller Adena is a grainy Indiana Hornstone-type flint,2&3/4" with a definitely rechipped-by-modern-people tip.. The dark Adena is a Harrison County (Indiana) Hornstone 2&13/16" with a stained-grey wood putty bit to finish-out the tip. Wouldn't fool anyone, so why'd they bother? The Hopewell is 3&1/16", rechipped tip and a glued-in-place flake that broke when they tried to fashion that new tip. The flint is a form of either Indiana Holland or Indiana Derby Flint--a bit more yellow that all the derby samples I've used for study, so I suspect it's more in the "Holland family", more of a Chalcedony. They are what they are, I can't change that, but each could be professionally restored. At this price (along with $6.00 shipping) you can decide to display them, restore them yourself, or have a professional (I recommend Keith Etchison) do the work. I welcome checks (cash) or M.O.s however I do not use paypal--Roy A.
