Made of Indiana Hornstone, deeply auriculate (contracted base form) Big Sandy,2&1/16" by 1&3/16", only 1/4" max thickness. The base-center is heavily, heavily polished. Once much longer the tip shows Early Archaic 'shortening' to get to the present length, fine pressure-made chips on the very tip, and mineralized--the point, as the photos should show, has never been cleaned--soil is still showing in the flake scars. I 'typed' the artifact as an auriculate base as some Contracted Base Big Sandys show more down-angled basal corners--not all, but on this auriculate base the knapper had a very inverted basal edge planned--nice blade, lifetime guaranteed authentic. The point ended up in an Illinois collection, but is not Illinois type Hornstone, so my working assumption is that the piece is from here in Indiana originally. Shipping is $5.00, checks, cash, or M.O>s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
