Out of a Warrick County, S.W. Indiana, collection, found back in the "deep plowing era"--somewhere in the mid 70s or before. The point, an Early Archaic Culture Lost Lake is made of a local flint that comes from along the Ohio River in Hancock County, Kentucky--in color and 'grain' it's very similar to Indiana Holland Flint (chalcedony, actually). This 2&1/2" by 1&9/16" point is only 5/16" max thickness. Photos show the way the edges have yellowed (with back-lighting). On very old culture points (7500BP in this case) that yellowing is one factor to look for when you're evaluating patina (authenticity, to be more correct). The one basal corner does show an ancient use-made chip, and so you know up-front the barb and basal corner point on the opposite side also have small work chips--you know ahead of time exactly what the condition is--none of us like to unwrap a piece expecting "everything intact" and finding otherwise. The tip IS intact, the serrated blade edges are also intact--price reflects the minor damage. Shipping is $9.00 with checks or M.O.s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
