A Hornstone (Harrison County, Indiana-type flint) Turkey Tail from a Fayette County, Indiana, collection. Likely a personal find of the collector from that east-central Indiana, area--form, patina, light tan cortex, everything indicates an Indiana find. As the T.T. was made, Late Archaic Period, it was certainly a much larger blade--use-modified as the edges dulled or tip dings required the blade to be resharpened. You can spot the impact fracture that clipped off one shoulder, but with a still sharp opposite edge the piece (knife) likely stayed in use at least one more time--it was a long way to the hornstone flint bearing creeks of Harrison County, so tools got used until either lost or too small to do their work. Neat piece, real. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are the payment options. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
