Either a Greenstone or a green quartzite, heavy rascal. No matter the length of the handle this Maul was mounted on, swinging it was a recipe for sore shoulders that night. Out of the Sangamon County, Illinois, area the green 'quartz-like' stone is (just guessing) about four lbs--length is 4&5/8" by 3&15/16", 3" or fractionally over in height. The patina is there, it's 100% real. The finder had a lot of white flint in his collection, but nothing else like this big "warclub"--authentic, and a neat piece in anyone's collection.
