The sons of the finder said they remembered their dad hunting along the White River in S.W> Indiana--Daviess and the other counties that lined the river in that area--some of his finds he'd stencil a D for Davies, etc--not these, though. The collection had been stored in a basement in buckets, so you might find a very tiny chip simply due to the way they were stored--no excuses, that's just the way the collection was...minus the boatload of spiders my wife insisted be removed before the buckets came into our home. The newest piece here is a Mississippian Madison point, six--seven hundred years BP--the oldest is either the side notched Big Sandy or (more likely) the bifurcated base, both from the Early Archaic period in Indiana. The converted Late Archaic stemmed point made into a drill/ burin is likely no more than 3500BP. Four points are grey hornstone of differing grades, . The red 'quartzy" material is a river gravel, 1&7/8" for scale. The Orange flint Big Sandy, before the patination the flint may have looked far different from what it is now--identifying that flint (or Jasper)--anyone's guess what the material is. ALL are real, period. Shipping is $6.00, checks or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
