This Carved Fossil Bone Eskimo Cheek Plug was used by the Eskimo cultures for facial ornamentation. It was dug on St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. (If this artifact was larger and heavier it might be argued that it is a net weight or bolo weight but due to its lightness, it was more likely used for the stated purpose.)
It's possible that the polished side (outward facing side) has deliberately carved designs or symbols.)
