This frame is a8 great example of the different style of points as well as lithic material found on The Columbia River. Point types represented are Hells Canyon Snake River, Columbia Plateau, Wallula, Rabbit Island, Shaniko Stemmed, Cascade, Mule Ear, Elko Eared, Humbolt, a Drill & a nice string of seed trade beads & one larger trade bead. Lithics are Chalcedony, Agate, Obsidian, Jasper.. Petrified Wood & basalt.
This frame of points is one of four frames found at the Lower Towal site in 1967, located on the Washington side of the Columbia opposite the mouth of the John Day river on the Oregon side. They are mounted in a sealed shadowbox style frame, they were also glued to the foam rubber background with Elmers glue. If someone wanted to assemble a different frame Elmers is easily removed with a soak in warm water.
