Eye appeal--one of the best looking pieces of Sonora Flint I've ever owned--half a dozen years back it came from a Spencer County, Indiana, collection that was being sold--a friend was buying group-by-group until the older collector dumped it all with a local auction house. This Dovetail Drill among the first groups my friend bought--and sold me. Caliper shows the 2&3/8" length, width is 1&3/16" and 5/16" VERY even thickness. The basal edge is ground, naturally, this being an Early Archaic point conversion. I find nothing, not one single spot to describe as damage--makes you wonder why the Archaic hunter/knapper felt the need to turn a Dovetailed knife into a drill. Held right under my OttLight I can see very slight use polish on the very tip, so the piece definitely had a tool use. Every detail is guaranteed real, period.
