Okay--a 10x loop showed what LOOKED like a restored tip on this Pinetree Cornernotch dart point, so I went to my $10 "Jarlink" duo-head loop--30x and 60 x, both with lights, before I finally had to conclude there is NO restoration, only a grainy fossil chert with some fracture planes. A couple years back I listed the piece with a $24 & shipping price--it didn't sell (thankfully). The point was from a seller in the Christian County, Kentucky, area--an area find, only 1&15/16" by 1", a quarter inch thick. Usually the first thing I do if something has a restored tip is to find a harder-type flint, see if there is a dull "thump-thump-thump" sound, restoration being a softer material it will not give the 'ting ting' sound of actual flint...well, this Pinetree has the 'ting' sound--a bell like ring--the tip isn't restored. Why go on-and-on about the tip? Simple, I'm guaranteeing the piece is intact, I want you the buyer to know what I know. Now, will it "throw you" on first look? Believe it, it's 'perplexing'--the title says it all. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O>s are how I welcome-in payments. I do not use paypal-type payment systems--Roy A.
